Guilderland Center banners celebrate hamlet’s history
GUILDERLAND CENTER — Banners depicting the history of Guilderland Center now hang from utility poles in the hamlet.
The banners will hang year-round, with a group selected for spring and summer, and another for fall and winter.
The spring and summer banners include photos of the Freeman House, Village Queen Fire Engine, French’s Hollow Bridge, and Dutchmen Field at Roger Keenholts Park.
For the fall and winter, the banners will showcase the Mynderse-Frederick House, Cobblestone Schoolhouse, and Centrepointe Community Church.
Guilderland’s Parks and Recreation Department initiated the program and town highway department workers hung the banners.
Centerpointe Community Church and the Guilderland Industrial Development Agency are “Bronze” sponsors. Other sponsors of the banners are: the Guilderland Garden Club, Peter and Linda Cure, the Auxiliary to the Guilderland Center Fire Department, Peter and Merry Sparano, Catherine and Peter Barber, the Guilderland Center Fire Department, Krista and Colin Gallup, and Dr. and Mrs. Guy M. Cristalli.
Anyone interested in sponsoring one or more banners should call the town’s parks and recreation office at 518-456- 3150, or email Taylor Mead at meadt@togny.org.
