Nite Train Ken Briggs, Paul Quigley at marathon for a better life.

The Schoharie Library will host an Open Mic Night on Thursday, July 26, at 6:30 p.m. Local musician Peter Enders will open with a sing-along. All are invited to share family-friendly stories, poems, and music. The library will provide microphones, speaker/amps, and a piano.

Songwriting workshop

Members of local blues-rock band Nite Train will lead a songwriting workshop at the library on Thursday, Aug. 2, at 7 p.m. This will be followed by an acoustic performance. Nite Train is an award-winning band known for its outstanding musicianship and high-energy performances.

Southpaw visits

The Tri-City Valley Cats’ mascot, Southpaw, and a friend will visit the library for story time on Friday, Aug. 3, at 10:30 a.m. They will read several stories and hand out bookmarks.

They will also present ticket vouchers for the Valley Cats’ Summer Reading Night baseball game to be held on Aug. 20. Vouchers will be available to all children participating in the Summer Reading Program on a first-come, first-served basis.
