Guilderland’s Isabella Bruno and Noah Tindale competed against top athletes from across New York for the State Championship held at Cicero-North Syracuse in Cicero on Friday. The Federation competition followed on Saturday with Bruno winning the championship for the triple jump.

Judges watch Bruno leap from the board during the finals. Bruno finished third in the state with a distance of 38 feet, 4.75 inches. She also finished eighth in the long jump with a distance of 18 feet, 1.75 inches. On Saturday, Bruno competed against seven other girls in the Federation Division I triple-jump championship. Bruno won the Federation championship with a distance of 38 feet even. Different groups of schools all compete under the Federation umbrella, including New York schools that are part of the Public Schools Athletic League; Catholic schools; independent schools; and both Division 1 and Division 2 schools in the New York State Public High School Athletic Association.

Big leap: Guilderland’s Isabella Bruno leaps from the board for the Division I girls’ triple jump held at Cicero-North Syracuse High School in Cicero last weekend for the State and Federation championships. Bruno finished third in the state at a distance of 38 feet, 4.75 inches, and also competed in the long jump where she finished in eighth at a distance at 18 feet, 1.75 inches on Friday. On Saturday, Bruno won the Federation championship in the triple jump with a distance of 38 feet even.
