Westerlo Library Notes for Wednesday, June 18, 2014
The Westerlo Public Library’s 2014 Summer Reading Program is full of activities and programs for readers of all ages and the calendar of events will be available soon. The program will kick-off with a very special family program, Fizz Boom Read! Game Show.
The Fizz Boom Read! Game Show presented by Magicman Entertainment will be held on Friday, June 27, at 6:30 p.m., at the Westerlo town hall auditorium. Magician and family entertainer, Chris "Mr. Magicman" LaBarge, combines fun and excitement to motivate kids and keep them reading all summer long.
The Fizz, Boom, Read! Game Show blends the magic of science with the science of magic. More than just a magic show, this magical game show is filled with colorful conjuring, outrageous comedy, audience participation, and much more. The whole family will enjoy this fun and energetic performance that will leave them wondering: Is it science or is it magic? This program has been made possible thanks to a generous donation from a private individual. We hope you can join us.
Silent auction
The library is conducting a month-long silent auction through Thursday, July 3 featuring six beautiful quilted table runners. These unique, handcrafted specimens of textile arts have been donated by the Westerlo Quilting Group. The quilts are currently on display at the library. You may also preview the quilts and get information about the bidding procedures at the library’s website www.westerlolibrary.org. All proceeds of the auction will benefit the library.

In addition to developing pre-reading skills, singing, moving to music, and playing instruments all help foster a sense of rhythm, and timing that are essential elements in developing the part of a child’s brain that shapes math skills.
