Rings a plenty: A little boy with big eyes holds all the hula hoops used for a bean-bag game and doesn’t want to let them go as he takes part in the eighth annual Lupine Fest at the Albany Pine Bush Discovery Center on May 17. The festival, which draws hundreds of people, celebrates the wildflower blue lupine and its importance to the endangered Karner blue butterfly.

Gone fishing: A mother helps her boy use his newly made fishing pole to pick up the magnetized paper fish at his feet while her daughter showed how it was done during the annual Lupine Fest held last Saturday at the Albany Pine Bush Discovery Center. This year’s theme was “Dune” It All — Recreation in the Pine Bush, celebrating the 3,200-acre preserve with presentations, demonstrations, live music, games, face painting, crafts, guided hikes, pony rides, and snacks.
