Lois Lounsbury

WESTERLO — Lois Lounsbury, a homemaker, died on Tuesday, May 13, 2014, in the Community Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital. She was 88.

“She enjoyed gardening, quilting, bird watching, and doing jigsaw puzzles,” her family wrote in a tribute. “Lois especially enjoyed the many cruises she shared with her husband, Alaska being their all-time favorite.”

Born on the family farm in West Berne on April 10, 1926, she was daughter of the late George and Grace Kniskern Weidman, and the wife of the late Ernest Paul Lounsbury, who she married on June 16, 1946.  He died on Dec. 16, 2003.

She is survived by her children, June Sherman, Joel Lounsbury and his wife, Valerie, and E. Paul Lounsbury Jr. and his wife, Bernadette; grandchildren, Jody Lounsbury and his wife, Meredith, Joel C.P. Lounsbury, and his wife, Sally, Justin Lounsbury and his wife, Jessica, and E. Paul Lounsbury III; and great-grandchildren, Gabrielle, Alexa, Dylan and Lucas.

Calling hours will be Friday, May 16, from 7 to 9 p.m. at A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home at 4898 Route 81 in Greenville.  The funeral will be Saturday, May 17, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by burial in Westerlo Rural Cemetery. Mourners may leave condolence messages at ajcunninghamfh.com.
