FSA accepting emergency loan applications

Heavy rain on April 1 has made farms in Albany, Montgomery, and Schoharie counties that suffered damage eligible for disaster emergency loan assistance from the Farm Service Agency.

Family farmers who suffered at least 30 percent of their production due to the rain may be eligible for the loans.  Losses must be supported with documented records.

Farmers must be unable to obtain credit from private commercial lenders. The interest rate on emergency loans is 3.75 percent.

Applications for loans will be accepted until Aug. 18, 2018. The FSA office is at 2530 Route 40, Greenwich, NY 12834; its phone number is (518) 692-9940, ext. 2.
