Bond with your dog as you teach obedience

NEW SCOTLAND — Cornell Cooperative Extension of Albany County is holding a Winter Dog Obedience Class.

Participants will learn how to teach basic obedience while having fun bonding with their dogs. There will also be an optional Canine Good Citizen test with an evaluator from the American Kennel Club.

This class will be offered Mondays from Jan. 22 through March 5, with March 12 as an optional day for the Canine Good Citizen evaluation. Classes will be held from 6 to 6:45 p.m. at the extension’s Albany County Office at 24 Martin Road in Voorheesville.

The class will focus on teaching basic manners, behavior modification, and socialization. This program is open to both 4-H and non-4H youth, as well as adults. The cost for 4-H youth members is $40; for youth non-members, $50; and for adults, $80.

All funds will go towards furthering Albany County 4-H youth education and development. For more information or to sign up, contact Ashley Pierce online at or call (518) 765-3500.  Space is limited. The deadline to sign up is Jan. 17, 2018.
