I see no evidence that our president encourages hate or intolerance

To the Editor:

Your editorial in the Nov. 2 Enterprise [“Hate and intolerance are masquerading as traditional values”] contained many relevant points that are important to our society and which should be addressed.

However, I believe your statement that “We wonder if people feel they can unleash inner rage because our president so often encourages it” to be wrong and as hateful and intolerant as the acts that your editorial is against. It is certainly not in the spirit of your editorial.

You may feel (perhaps because of some political bias) that our president encourages hate and intolerance but I don’t see evidence of it, and in any case I don’t think it was appropriate to include in this editorial.

Our president’s tweets or actions can be sometimes crude, not well thought out, or blunt perhaps, but not hateful.

Editor’s note: As just one example, a person who gets crowds, again and again, to chant “Build the wall!” or “Lock her up!” is encouraging people to unleash inner rage.
