To the Editor:

Election Day is coming around very soon. This set me to thinking about our life in Guilderland over the past years. As a result of this reflection, I strongly support Supervisor Peter Barber and his supporting team, Patricia Slavick and Paul Pastore, for election.  

Guilderland benefits from Supervisor Barber’s prior experience and working knowledge of the zoning and planning needs of the town coupled with his strong commitment to open and ethical government.

His concern for the town of Guilderland and the quality of our lives is evident through the many improvements to our community in his first term.

These improvements include: adoption and implementation of the new and simplified zoning regulations and approval process, the expansion of services to seniors, the continuation of sidewalk installations along Western Avenue to Route 155, numerous improvements to our parks and the development of additional hiking trails for our enjoyment.

Under a new program, implemented by our highway department, our roads are being resurfaced at a significant cost saving. A new water supply connection to Rotterdam allows the town to purchase more water when needed. Recently, the town has regraded the dangerous sharp hill on Hurst Road to a gentle slope.

Future projects will include the installation of sidewalks from State Employees’ Federal Credit Union to the Guilderland Public Library. There are also plans for the upgrading and improvement of Mercy Care Road. A new $2.4 million grant will allow the town to set up a permanent water connection to Rotterdam,   the necessary pump station, additional water lines for unserved areas, and the replacement of an old water tower in Fort Hunter.

On  Election Day, I encourage you to show your support for our town by voting for Supervisor Peter Barber and town board candidates Patricia Slavick and Paul Pastore.
