Guilderland teen shot in Arbor Hill

GUILDERLAND — A Guilderland teenager was shot in Arbor Hill on Monday night, according to Albany City Police.

DuShawn Sims, 16, of Old State Road, was shot in the leg at the corner of Lark and Orange Streets, around 8:45 p.m.

By the time police responded to the scene, Sims was lying on the sidewalk, with a bullet wound to his leg, said Detective James Miller.

Sims was struck by a .40-caliber bullet, and three .40-caliber shell casings were found nearby, Miller said.

The bullet fractured Sims’s femur, and he was treated at Albany Medical Center, but has been uncooperative with the investigation, said Miller.

Police have not identified a suspect.

Thomas Lutsic, the principal at Guilderland High School, said Sims is not a student there.
