Middleburgh Library Notes for Friday, February 14, 2014
On Tuesday, Feb. 18, at 10:45 a.m., join us at the Middleburgh Library for drop in story time. Get ready to move in this interactive story time designed especially for children 0 to age five and their caregivers. We’ll read books, sing songs, recite fingerplays, dance and watch a short movie based on a weekly theme. No registration is required.
Book discussion
On Tuesday, Feb. 18, at 7 p.m., the library’s book group will discuss Great Expectations by Charles Dickens. No registration is required. Books are available at the circulation desk for checkout.
Puppets
On Wednesday, Feb. 19, at 1 p.m., come make hand puppets with local puppet artist Morgan Kelly. In this workshop, students will make three different styles of hand puppets, each to be taken home. Using everyday objects and recycled materials, students will learn to stretch their imaginations and become puppeteers. Registration is required. This program is ppropriate for children in grades two through five.
Kundalini Yoga
On Wednesday, Feb. 19, from 5 to 6:15 p.m., join us for Kundalini Yoga facilitated by Debra Krol. This program involves repetitive movements with the breath, building strength, toning the nerves and clearing the adrenal glands. Wear comfortable clothing and bring two blankets or a mat and blanket. A $5 donation is requested. Use the back entrance when entering the building. No registration is required.
Knitting Circle
On Thursday, Feb. 20, at 7 p.m., join the Knitting Circle’s ladies knit and crochet, embroider and quilt, and more. You can learn a new skill here or share your own special talents with others or just craft in the company of friends. Drop in anytime. No registration is required.
Classic film
On Tuesday, Feb. 25, at 6:30 p.m., we will be showing Great Expectations. Join us for a showing of the classic 1946 film version of Charles Dickens, Great Expectations starring John Mills and Valerie Hobson. No registration is required and the popcorn is free.
Concert
On Thursday, Feb. 27, at 7 p.m., join us for Play Reading by Phil Potak. Potak, is a member of the Dramatists Guild of America. His newest play, Heir Apparent, is a two-character piece that re-visits his running theme of family and how that concept cannot be defined simply, with a white picket fence. Tickets are available at the door. A $10 donation is suggested. Please use back entrance.
Dinner and a movie
On Friday, Feb. 28, at 5:30 p.m. the library will show Gravity rated PG 13. We will provide pizza, salad and drinks and you bring a dessert to share. Please note that this movie is rated PG-13 and is not suitable for young children. Registration is required. Please use back entrance.
