Knox Winterfest
KNOX — The 18th Annual Winterfest, sponsored by the Knox Youth Council, will be held this year on Saturday, Jan. 25, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Knox Town Park.
The public is welcome and encouraged to bring sleds and tubes for sledding, and snowshoes or cross-country skis for use on the trails.
There will be a bonfire, and food and hot beverages distributed free of charge.
Award-winning restaurateur Dan Smith, the chef and proprietor of Jake Moon’s Café in Clarksville, will judge this year’s chili contest. Smith, formerly the executive chef of Nicole’s Bistro in Albany, supports regional farmers by using locally sourced foods.
The chili judging will start at noon, with lots of prizes: local restaurant gift certificates and made-in-the-Hilltowns foods and crafts. Those who want to compete in the cook-off must contact Jean Gagnon at 872-9670 to register.
If there is enough snow, the Capital District Chapter of the Model T Snowmobile Club will be present with several models of their antique vehicles, offering rides to the public.
