Voorheesville Library Notes for Friday, December 27, 2013

On Monday, Dece. 30, at 1 p.m., join us at the Voorheesville Public Library to watch Planes. Enjoy the big screen, munch some popcorn and watch as a crop-dusting airplane, with a fear of heights, lives his dream of competing in an around-the-world race. This film is rated PG with some mild action and rude humor.

Meet Archivist Jim Corsaro

Jim Corsaro is available two days each week to help anyone interested in using the library’s local history and archival collections. In the coming year, he will be presenting talks about historical records and how to care for them. Call the library and ask for him if you have family papers, business records, or organization proceedings that you would like to preserve or are considering donating to the library.

Circle Time

Miss Amy’s Circle Time is a special program for preschool children aged 3 to 4 offered on the second Monday of every month.  Join Miss Amy for a structured, themed story time that will include introduction to the calendar and weather observation as well as songs, fingerplays, stories and a follow-up craft. Our next Circle Time will be Jan. 13, at 10:15 a.m.

Humane Society donations

This holiday season the library is collecting donations for the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society through Tuesday, Dec. 31. Bring in any pet related item and place them on our donations for pets table display. For a complete list of acceptable items, go to www.mohawkhumane.org/wishlist.html.

Artist of the month

Don’t forget to drop by and enjoy the last week of our December artist of the month, Jean MacKay. She has shared a wonderful array of watercolor sketches and paintings that are beautifully detailed. Stop in, have a cup of coffee and stroll the gallery at your leisure.

January will bring in RaeLee Robinson displaying her wet on wet paintings in the gallery and Anita Wahlen with her needle basketry display. Don’t forget, we are always looking for new and interesting art forms and personal collections. If you’d like to share your works or collection, please give us a call at 765-2791 and ask for Lynn.

Thursday afternoon movies

Take a break from holiday shopping and stop by the library on Thursday afternoons to enjoy a classic movie in our community room. Movies titles can be seen on our events calendar or bookworm, or just stop in to pick up a monthly schedule. Movies start promptly at 1:30 p.m.
