Perfect place to picnic: On Monday, SEFCU volunteers celebrate the pavilion they built at Wildwood Farm by lunching on the new picnic tables. “We are so proud of this partnership with Wildwood because we created the ultimate win-win-win: our employees learned new skills while enjoying the chance to volunteer for a great organization; Wildwood workers will now be able to stay cooler in the summer heat; and, most importantly, more food will make its way to those in the Capital Region who need it most,” said SEFCU President Michael Castellana, who attended the event along with Wildwood Chief Executive Officer Mary Ann Allen.
NEW SCOTLAND — The State Employees’ Federal Credit Union is working with Wildwood Programs to grow more produce at Wildwood Farm for emergency food programs. With a grant from SEFCU, Wildwood will give 3,000 pounds of produce — an increase over the former 2,000 pounds — each year to hungry families in the Capital Region
The grant will also let participants from Wildwood’s Farm & Outdoor Program learn skills, develop an understanding about the connection between their efforts and successes, and build their capacity to work.
This summer, the SEFCU volunteer team built a pavilion at the farm so that the Wildwood workers could have shade and comfort during their work day.
Wildwood Programs, founded in 1967, provides supports for over 3,700 people of all ages from the Capital District living with autism, developmental disabilities, and complex learning disabilities. Since 1999, the organization’s farming and outdoor projects have provided learning opportunities in agriculture, animal husbandry and horticulture.
