To the Editor:

Altamont Community Tradition was delighted to host its annual Strawberry Social, held on Tuesday evening, June 20. Orsini Park came alive with a vibrant assortment of activities for all ages.

Many thanks to Altamont Orchards, The Home Front Café, and Stewart’s Shops for their donations, which we used to create homemade strawberry shortcakes. Thank you to the volunteers from the State Employees Federal Credit Union — Nancy, Shelli, and Jill — for serving up the delicious treats.

Children and their parents waited patiently for a balloon creation from Mac N Tosh the clown, and a tattoo from his assistant. Fun and games were organized and led by Stu and Anne Linendoll, along with Joe Burke and Christine Carpenter from the Altamont Free Library.

ACT thanks you all for your energy and enthusiasm in providing lively fun for all to enjoy.

Friends and neighbors enjoyed catching up with one another as greetings and conversations flourished. The Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy provided a glimpse into the natural areas available nearby, including the Bozenkill Preserve. Thanks to the many visitors who contributed to the donation jar for the Altamont Food Pantry.

The community of Altamont — a blend of residents, businesses, and organizations — take an ordinary summer evening and transform it into an extraordinary occasion. We are so fortunate to call this enchanted village our home.
