ALTAMONT —  Barbara Plue Johnsen, described by her family as “a loving and caring person,” died on Saturday, May 6, 2017, at the Community Hospice of Albany Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital. She was 66.

“Everyone who met her was a better person for the influence she had on their lives,” her family wrote in a tribute.

Born in Albany, she lived in Altamont for most of her life.  She was a graduate of Voorheesville’s high school and worked for New York Telephone, Armco Steel, General Electric, and Medi-cab of Guilderland.

She was also an excellent cook, enjoyed collecting dolls, and also loved gardening and reading.  She was a member of the Albany County Home Bureau and Pilgrim Holiness Church in Schenectady.

She is survived by her husband, George Johnsen; her children, Denise Johnsen and Eric Johnsen and his wife, Heather; her brothers, Mark Plue and his wife, Alice, Steven Plue, and Christopher Plue; and her granddaughter, Alexandria Johnsen.  She was also survived by several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 11, at the Reilly & Son Funeral Home, 1200 Central Ave., Colonie.  Friends may also visit with the family on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
