WESTERLO — Gary William Maslowsky “entered his eternal home on Friday, March 24, 2017, with his loving wife and daughters by his side,” his family wrote in a tribute. He was 70.

Mr. Maslowsky was born in Schenectady on Jan. 15, 1947 to the late William and Mary (née Kropp) Maslowsky. He grew up in Altamont, graduating from Guilderland High School in 1965.

Gary and Carol (née Barber) Maslowsky were married on Feb. 22, 1969 and lived their 48 years of marriage in the two homes they built together in Westerlo. Together, the couple raised five daughters.

Mr. Maslowsky taught his daughters practical skills like how to drive, and he also had fun with them on family trips.

Mr. Maslowsky had two careers in his life, one with Laborers Local 190 for 35 years, in which he enjoyed the varied jobs and many people he worked with. Retiring from Local 190 in 2004, Mr. Maslowsky began a 13-year career with the Berne-Knox-Westerlo School District, as a school bus driver, where he thoroughly enjoyed interacting with the students.

In addition to his jobs, Mr. Maslowsky enjoyed sharing his skills and interest in woodworking, carpentry, hunting, fishing, and boating. “He was always happy to use his skills to help others, including building bookshelves, decks, and cabinets or anything needed by others and never wanted anything in return, a true example of his selflessness,” his family wrote. He liked traveling with his family, whom he loved dearly.

Mr. Maslowsky attended the First Baptist Church of Westerlo. “Gary loved the Lord and was always eager to share his faith with others,” his family wrote.

Gary William Maslowsky is survived by his wife, Carol (née Barber) Maslowsky; his five daughters, Caren Maslowsky, Carie Colloton and her husband, Garry, Cara Beth Parker and her husband, Gary, Kaylin Boci and her husband, Landi, and Kelsey Maslowsky; seven grandchildren, Alyssa, Emma, Lucas, Anthony, Alana, Martene, and Mateo; and a great-grandson Jayden.

He is survived, too, by a brother Joseph Maslowsky and his wife, Barbara, as well as a large extended family and many cherished friends.

The family “thanks all for supporting Gary during his illness and for being a part of his life. He was sincerely your friend and valued your friendships,” the family wrote.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 2, at the First Baptist Church of Westerlo, on Route 143 in Westerlo, at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be at a later date.
