George Ward

VOORHEESVILLE —  George Ward, a self-employed contractor who liked to hunt and fish, died at his Voorheesville home on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017, after a long illness. He was 87.

He was the son of the late Lewis and Hattie (née Robbins) Ward. He was self- employed for over 30 years in the siding and window business.

Mr. Ward served in the New York State National Guard. He was a school bus driver for the Bethlehem Central School District and a former member of the Onesquethaw Volunteer Fire Company. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a lifetime member of the Elsmere Rod and Gun Club.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Geraldine (née Smith) Ward of Voorheesville; his daughter Sharon Seney and her husband, Paul, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; his son George Ward and his wife, Darlene, of Voorheesville; his daughter Sheila Tryon and her husband, Mark, of Voorheesville; his grandson George Ward and his wife, Genevieve, of Slingerlands; his granddaughter, Lauren Ward, of Voorheesville; his estranged son, Geoffrey Ward, and his wife, Kathy, of Westerlo; and his estranged grandson, Justin Ward.

His parents died before him, as did his brother Edwin Ward and his identical twin brother, Fred Ward.

His family thanks Hospice and the many friends who helped in the family’s time of need.

Arrangements are by the Fredendall Funeral Home in Altamont.
