Knox board should work for benefit of all town residents
To the Editor:
I was disappointed by the actions of the Knox Town Board at its December meeting. A grant application for an electric car-charging station was approved. There are four electric cars in town.
The station admittedly is not intended for town residents but is intended to attract outsiders to use while enjoying our ailing park and infrastructure facilities. Something our board is reluctant to address.
The same grant money could be used to upgrade the highway garage and transfer station facilities.
The no cost to the town is misleading. Town employees would have to prepare site, and connection to electric grid was briefly discussed, leaving more questions than answers.
Supposedly, this is free for two years, but I fear it will become a white elephant for the town in the future. The vast majority of vehicles in town will not see any benefit from this project.
Instead of working on projects for the few, I urge the board to work on projects for the benefit of all town residents.
