WESTERLO — Shalyla Lyons of Westerlo, who graduated from Berne-Knox-Westerlo in June and was a standout athlete in high school, has set a record for Stonehill College.

On Dec. 3, at the University of Massachusetts Invitational at the Reggie Lewis Track and Field Arena in Boston, Lyons set a Stonehill freshman record for shot put, at a distance of 40 feet, .075 inches.

Lyons is pursuing environmental science at the Easton, Massachusetts college.
