The Homeless and Travelers Aid Society called an Albany Code Blue alert for Nov. 21 and 22.

The trigger for an Albany Code Blue alert has changed from prior years – it is now 29 degrees or lower, including windchill. The Albany Code Blue season runs from Nov. 15 to March 15.

Albany Code Blue is a collaborative effort dedicated to helping unsheltered homeless people from experiencing threats to their lives or health due to exposure to severe winter weather.  On Code Blue nights, partner agencies suspend or amend any real or perceived barriers to shelter.

Homeless people in Albany can go to the Capital City Rescue Mission at 259 South Pearl St., the Interfaith Partnership for the Homeless Safe Haven at 26 South Swan Street, or the Council of Churches Overflow Shelter at 646 State Street.
