ALTAMONT — Michelle M. Teal — described by her family as “loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and cousin to many” — was a well-known local restaurateur.

She died at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany on Monday, Nov. 7, 2016, surrounded by those who loved her. She was 52.

She was born in Delhi, New York on June 7, 1964. She graduated from Guilderland Central High School and Maria College. Until recently, she lived on Route 158 in Altamont.

She was married to Daniel Teal whom her family described as the “love of her life.”

She worked for herself for many years as a restaurateur and co-owner of The Homestead Bake Shop and The Cheldan House Restaurant in Knox. She also worked for the Guilderland School District as a paraprofessional.

“Her sweet, caring, and loving nature attracted many, attested to by the abundance of loved ones who surrounded her,” her family wrote in a tribute. “Family was the cornerstone of her life. Being a mother and grandmother were her greatest joys.”
