MIDDLEBURGH — Patricia A. Porter of Middleburgh, an environmentalist who liked to travel and loved her grandchildren, died peacefully with her loving family by her side at Albany Medical Center on Jan. 21, 2015. She was 62.

She was born in Hudson, New York on June 5, 1952, the daughter of the late Sigurd and Marian (née Simmons) Holmquist.

She worked for many years and retired from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation in Albany.

“She was married to her best friend, Ronald Porter, for 45 years,” her family wrote in a tribute. “She enjoyed traveling and her many vacations with her family in Florida.  Patricia was very proud of her grandchildren; they were the love of her life.   She will be remembered fondly by her family and many friends.”

She is survived by her husband, Ronald Porter; a son, Michael Porter and his wife, Christine; a daughter, Amy Bartlett and her husband, Heath; her grandchildren, Samantha and Nicholas Porter, and Lane and Lacey Bartlett; her sisters, Theresa Vinetti, Mary Ellen DiGiulio, and Denise Kelly; and also a lifelong friend, Carol Duncan.

Her parents died before her, as did her son Scott Porter.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, Jan. 25, at the A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home in Greenville. Condolences may be posted online at ajcunninghamfh.com.  Interment will be in the South Berne Cemetery in the spring.
