GUILDERLAND -– Steven and Joyce Swanson of Guilderland are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Jenna Elizabeth Swanson, to Daniel Grogan Haggerty, son of Stephen and Eileen Haggerty of Guilderland.

The couple, longtime friends, finally realized that they were perfect for each other 10 years after their graduations from Guilderland High School in 2003. They were engaged slope side at Mount Snow, Vt. on Valentine’s Day.

Ms. Swanson received a bachelor of science degree in speech and language pathology from the State University of New York College at Geneseo in 2007. After working for three years as a speech and language therapist at Wildwood School in Schenectady, she went on to earn a master of science degree in occupational therapy from Sage Graduate School in 2012. Currently, Ms.  Swanson is employed by Core Medical Group as a traveling occupational therapist.

Mr. Haggerty received an associate’s degree in applied science from the State University of New York College at Delhi in 2005. He went on to study at Southern Connecticut State University on an athletic scholarship for cross-country and track and field. Mr. Haggerty worked for the Center for Disability Services, residential division in Altamont for four years. Currently, Mr. Haggerty is completing his bachelor of science degree in community and human services from Empire State College, as he travels with his fiancée about the country.

A December 2014 wedding is planned in Albany.
