GUILDERLAND — A bid for the first phase of a $5.27 million new Westmere firehouse project will be awarded on Oct. 4.

The old firehouse, built in 1956, will be torn down, and the new firehouse is slated to be complete by the spring of 2012.

GUILDERLAND — The Metro 20 Diner is slated to re-open in November under new ownership, as the Capital City Diner.

ALTAMONT — The soldier statue stolen from the Home Front Café has been returned.

“He’s been nicked up a little bit,” said the café’s owner, Cindy Pollard. “It wasn’t badly damaged. We’ll unveil it soon.”

ALTAMONT — In a show of support for Cindy Pollard, Altamont’s Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7062 is offering a $500 reward for the return of the soldier statue stolen from Pollard’s café in August.

Guilderland man collared for pot possession

GUILDERLAND — A Guilderland resident was arrested on Sept. 9, for felony possession of marijuana, and sent to jail without bail.

ALTAMONT — Home Front Café owner Cindy Pollard’s life-sized soldier statue is still missing from the lawn of her Main Street eatery. The fiberglass statue was stolen in late August.
