ALTAMONT — The village appointed its new superintendent and assistant superintendent of public works in April, keeping and promoting two long-term employees.

GUILDERLAND — The town elections are more than six months away, but, this week, Mark Grimm formally announced his intention to run for supervisor on the Republican line.

GUILDERLAND — Michael Laster is coming home — both physically and philosophically.

Laster, who lives in Guilderland, was appointed principal of Farnsworth Middle School on Tuesday night.

He started his career as a middle-school teacher and is currently the high school principal for Greenville.

This year, more Guilderland entrants in the state level competition for History Day will proceed to the national level than ever before.

GUILDERLAND — A Guilderland man pleaded guilty to driving drunk with minors in the car, and, on Tuesday, he was sentenced to one to three years in state prison.

ALBANY ––A Guilderland man appearing in Albany County Court Monday paid $1,500 to have his business associate kidnapped for $400,000 ransom in order to settle a financial dispute between the two, reported Albany County District Attorney David Soares.

GUILDERLAND — School district voters will be the first in the county to cast their budget and board ballots electronically.

“We’re going from ancient lever machines to scanatrons,” said school board President Colleen O’Connell at Tuesday’s board meeting.
