Cheerleading is a waste of girls’ and boys’ time.  Cheerleaders are either on the sidelines, throwing each other up in the air like rag dolls, or chanting, "Here we go Dutchmen, here we go."  Or in a "cheer gym," tumbling on a mat and throwing each other up in the air.

Imagine you’re a 12-year-old girl. It’s 8 o'clock on a Wednesday night and you’re at a dance studio, standing next to six other girls dressed in similarly-colored neon spandex short-shorts and sports bras.

Is Kobe Bryant better than Lebron James? This question has stumped many National Basketball Association fans and followers, but who knows the answer?

Think about this: What is the hardest thing you have chosen to do? Now, if you chose to do that, how come you can’t throw away a piece of trash?

New York State should protect its water supply and health of its citizens by banning fracking. Do you think it’s worth the risk of water waste, business loss, air pollution, and health problems? Fracking for energy isn’t worth the consequences it causes.

GUILDERLAND — The Guilderland YMCA is presenting an adult learn-to-swim program open to the public and all YMCA members on Friday mornings from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. for eight weeks, running from Sept.13 to Nov. 1.

Classes are in small groups.

To the Editor:

The present town court elected officials spend only four days a month in town court, and they alternate between weeks. They are on call during the month but there is no indication as to how many hours each elected official spends on that aspect of the position.
