Photos: Dutch Girls Put Headlock On Their Competition

On Friday, Dec. 20, the Guilderland girls’ wrestling squad participated in the second Holiday Headlocks tournament at Niskayuna High School. All five wrestlers placed in the top six.

Human pretzels: Guilderland’s Emily Echevarria tries to roll over to her stomach but Mechanicville-Stillwater’s McKenzie Keoughan blocks her by rolling Echevarria the other way in their 94-pound match. Echevarria lost by pin in 2:07 and finished fourth overall.

Using her power: Guilderland’s Eliana Famodu attempts to put Shen’s Amber Rumsey onto her back by placing her hands on Rumsey’s head. Famodu lost by pin in 2:16 and finished fourth overall.

Mat battle: Guilderland’s Quincy Mubuyaeta attempts to put on some offensive moves on Niskayuna-Schenectady’s Ariella Pigeon in their 138-pound match. Mubuyaeta lost by pin in 52 seconds and finished third overall.

You’re not going anywhere: Guilderland’s Nadia Hawrylchak wraps her arms tightly around the waist of Shen’s Hailey Miller as Hawrylchak falls backwards in an attempt to put Miller’s shoulders to the mat in their 138-pound match. Hawrylchak won by pin in 4:19 and won the division.
