A longing glance: Three-year old Tawsif Kahn eyes a gingerbread house  donated to the Ronald McDonald House at Albany Medical Center by Mary Loeber, left. Tawsif is being treated for Stage IV  brain cancer and has undergone a battery of interventions, including brain surgery, over the past year.

Behind him is Jody Reinemann, the creative baker of the holiday extravaganza, one of two she made that were raffled off at the Stewart’s Shop in Altamont. Store Manager Mandy Kolinsky said over $2,300 was raised from donations and raffle ticket sales, making a total of $4,600 — including the contribution from Stewart’s Holiday Match — that will go to local organizations that help kids.  Loeber, a winner, decided to give her gingerbread house to the Ronald McDonald House.
