Major Amanda Coonradt, center, a navigator in the Air National Guard since 2000, listens with her husband and daughter by her side as Boy Scout Nick Carl tells about her service. Coonradt, who has served since 2000, flies a LC 130-Skibird, which uses rockets to take off in the snow. She has served in Antarctica, Greenland, and New Zealand, and has received an Air Flying Medal, an Antarctic Service Medal, and a Marksman Ribbon.
