Photos: The Finest of Fall

Carrying high their hopes of playing deep into November for state championships, athletes from Guilderland, Voorheesville, and Berne-Knox-Westerlo showed their opponents that they mean business on the court, in the pool, on the gridiron, and on the course.

Competing in the state cross-country meet, Berne-Knox-Westerlo’s Michelle Puzulis ran  against the best in the state at Sunken Meadow State Park in King’s Park on the north shore of Long Island in the Class D race where she finished 24th with a time of 21:07.3

Competing in the state cross-country meet, Evan Ensslin ran against the best in the state at Sunken Meadow State Park in King’s Park on the north shore of Long Island in the Class C race where he finished 10th with a time of 16:59.4.

The Guilderville team, made up of students from Guilderland and Voorheesville, swam well at Ithaca College against the best in the state. Here, Erin Wadsworth swims in the 200-yard medley relay where the relay team finished 34th in the state. Teammate Kasey Keaney finished 12th and 13th in the state in individual events.

The Guilderland football team, finished the regular season on a high note and then ended with another sectional quarterfinal matchup against Shaker. On Oct. 25, the Dutchmen played well in the first half but Shaker ran away to beat the Dutch, 27 to 15, for the fourth year in a row.

The girls on Voorheesville’s volleyball team, bumped and spiked their way to back-to-back sectional titles and regional titles to play in the state championships in Glens Falls. Here, seniors Victoria Konicki and Marie Julian played an integral part in the Blackbirds’ title run where the Blackbirds finished third in the state.
