The Guilderville girls’ swim team sent eight athletes to Ithaca College to compete in the New York State swimming and diving championships last weekend, Nov. 18 and 19.

Flipping during competition: Guilderville’s Evanna Peng performs in the 1-meter diving portion of the championships. Peng finished 13th in the state with 442.90 points; Megan Cook from Queensbury was the top Section 2 diver with 476.15.

Flapping her arms like a hummingbird, Guilderville's Belen Marriaga swims in the 100-yard butterfly. Marriaga finished Friday morning tied for 21st with a time of 58.68 seconds and swam on Saturday in the New York State C final where she finished 23rd with a time of 58.79 seconds. Marriaga also swam in the 50-yard freestyle where she finished 29th with a time of 25.11.

Competing in many races, Guilderville's Kasey Keaney, a freshman, was in the pool most of the morning. Here, Keaney does the breaststroke portion of the 200-yard medley relay. The relay team finished 26th with a final time of 1:52.69. Keaney went on to swim in the 200-yard Individual Medley where she finished 37th with a time of 2:11.80, and in the 100-yard breaststroke where she was disqualified on Saturday but on Friday was 29th overall with a time of 1:08.03.
