Racing against the top runners in the state last Saturday, November 12, at Chenango Valley State Park in Fenton, New York, Guilderland and Voorheesville cross-country runners attempted to win state titles.

In the pack: Voorheesville’s Evan Ensslin runs in the Class C state championship race. Ensslin, a sophomore, finished 65th in the state with a time of 17:47.3. The winner was from Briarcliff from Section 1.

Guilderland had three runners who qualified for states. From the girls’ team, Emily Bini qualified but didn’t make the trip to Chenango Valley due to “being dinged up” and needing rest, her coach said. From the boys’ team, Noah Carey and Noah Tindale qualified. Getting off on the right foot the Noahs start together in the Class A state championship race looking.
