The Voorheesville Blackbirds boys’ soccer and girls’ volleyball teams went full bore this week. The soccer team on Saturday afternoon battled Lake George at Colonie High School for the section 2 Class C championship. The Birds won, 3 to 0, then played Section 7’s Saranac Lake on Wednesday afternoon in which the Birds won 3 to 1. The Birds will play for the regional title on Saturday at Potsdam High School against Section 10’s Madrid-Washington at 1 p.m. The volleyball team had a Class C sectional quarterfinal matchup at home on Friday against Hoosic Valley in which the Birds held on, winning in five sets: 25-15, 23-25, 17-25, 25-13, 25-12. The team moved on to the semifinals in which they fell; three sets to one against top seed Lake George on Tuesday evening at Gloversville High School.The Blackbird girls’ soccer team, lost 6 to 2 in the Class C championship at Mechanicville High School against Stillwater.
