Capital Region BOCES Pet Tech and Criminal Justice programs

Ready for rain: Max and Zip are decked out for wet weather by Capital Region BOCES Pet Tech students Francis Mann of South Colonie, left, and Jerry Wideelski of the Bethlehem. Pet-tech students learn to care for animals ranging from dogs to geckos. They also learn about customer service, pet grooming, washing and best practices for boarding animals, written and spoken communication, office and computer skills, phone etiquette, budgeting and money management, inventory and ordering, advertising, basic accounting, and business math.

Garrett Skultety of Bethlehem, a student in the Capital Region BOCES criminal justice program, is cuffed, during a classroom demonstration by Albany Police officer Joe Aquaviva. Aquaviva demonstrated the latest handcuffing techniques – hands behind the back with the backs of the hands touching – as well as the more traditional techniques. He discussed the pros and cons of each style.
