Photos: A field of dreams for Knox

Lewis Tubbs Field is dedicated on Monday afternoon with a speech and wave of the hand by Dennis Barber in the Ogden Brower Memorial Park. The Knox field across from the late Lewis Tubbs’s home on Berne-Altamont Road in Knox was his grooming project for around 40 years, Barber said. Tubbs died in November 2013.

A labor of love: Tubbs worked on the field and at the town’s transfer station, Knox Supervisor Michael Hammond, left, noted, as members of the crowd reminisced about Tubbs on Oct. 6. Hammond cut the wooden letters for the dedicatory sign and Dennis Barber painted them. Tubbs was a coach and manager for the Berne-Knox-Westerlo Little League, which uses the field owned by the Kiwanis Club of the Helderbergs.
