Festive: Miesha Cox, front-desk supervisor at Guilderland's new dual-branded Hilton hotel, serves mimosas at the ribbon-cutting celebration on Oct. 4. The hotel, with 192 rooms, is on Western Avenue on Crossgates Mall property. In the background, Albany County Legislator Paul Miller talks with the hotel’s general manager, Adam Gollub. The establishment offers two hotels under one roof: Tru Albany-Crossgates, with minimalist rooms; and Homewood Suites, with individual kitchens, for longer stays.

Many scissors: A line of officials and executives cut a ceremonial ribbon Oct. 4 at the dual-branded Hilton hotel in front of Crossgates Mall in Guilderland. From left are Jacqueline Coons, the town’s chief building and zoning inspector; Albany County Executive Dan McCoy; Ben Howell, regional director of operations for Aimbridge Hospitality; Peter Barber, Guilderland supervisor; Stephen J. Congel, chief executive officer of Pyramid Management, which owns Crossgates Mall and the hotel; Adam Gollub, general manager of the dual-branded hotel; and Paul Pastore, Guilderland councilman.

Shared lobby: Tru by Hilton and Homewood Suites share a lobby in their new, dual-branded hotel at Crossgates Mall in Guilderland. The hotel is owned by Pyramid Management, which owns and operates the mall. Guests receive a “Stay & Save” savings pass at check-in that offers savings at various shops, restaurants, and entertainment destinations within Crossgates Mall. The “Shop & Drop” delivery service brings shopping bags back to the hotel so guests can continue shopping. A request from Pyramid for just over $1 million in sales and mortgage-recording tax breaks was approved in June 2017 by Guilderland’s Industrial Development Agency. This was a mixed result, since the IDA turned down the company’s request for $1.4 million in real-property tax exemption.
