Photos: Geese Fly to Victory

The girls on the Guilderland-Voorheesville swim team, who call themselves the Geese, took to the water on Tuesday afternoon at home, in Voorheesville, for Senior Night, against Troy. The Geese dominated, winning 90 to 76.

With her arms extended: Grace Summerson battles in the 100-yard butterfly, the mirror-like surface reflects her image. Summerson finished in second place with a time of 1:12.53.

Trust fall: Maddy Alteri performs a back flip during the diving portion of the meet. Alteri won with a total score of 214.55.

Final prep: Kasey Keaney gets ready to jump from the starting block in the 50-yard freestyle as she lines up against Troy’s Noelia Feliciano and Kyleigh McAvoy. Keaney won with a time of 27.09 seconds and is also qualified for states in the 200-yard individual medley and the 50-yard freestyle.

Face wash: Olivia Farney swims the breaststroke portion of the 200-yard medley relay. The relay team — of Meghan Depew, Farney, Kasey Keaney, and Erin Wadsworth — won with a time of 2:03.31 and qualified for states. Evanna Peng and Eliana Wallock, Guilderville divers, have also qualified for state competition.

Gliding along: Guilderville’s Brooke Sommo leads the pack of six swimmers in the 200-yard freestyle event during Tuesday afternoon’s meet against Troy. Sommo won with a time of 2:13.76.

Laid back: Guilderville’s Evanna Peng falls toward the water with her legs in the air after performing a dive during Tuesday afternoon’s meet. Peng finished second with a score of 203.30 and qualified for state competition for the third year in a row.

Looking at her spot: Guilderville’s Eliana Wallock performs a dive, flipping head over heels so that she can land in the water head first. Wallock finished in third with a total score of 187.60 and also qualified for state competition in November.
