A Visit with Slingerlands' Founding Family: Rita Machin as Leah Slingerland and Brian Dollard as her son Congressman John I. The Friends of the Slingerland Family Burial Vault will present tours on Oct. 6, stepping off at step off at 3, 3:30, and 4 p.m. from the picnic pavilion at the Slingerlands firehouse at , 1520 New Scotland Road. Bethlehem Town Historian Susan Leath will present a general history of the hamlet and then the groups will walk to the Slingerland family homestead built in the 1790s and then to the family burial vault.
