All are welcome to the Altamont Corners SitScape, which is located at the corner of Main Street and Helderberg Avenue in the village, said the project’s co-creator, Kelly Vincenza Flanagin. The eco-friendly space was built by Flanagin’s co-creator and father, Jeff Thomas, the owner of Altamont Corners. A frequent traveler, Flanagin said that she started to come across these “really awesome” outdoor spaces in her travels, where people would gather and thought: Why not take away some blacktop and give the community some greenspace in Altamont Corners? How long the SitScape will be in place is open-ended, Flanagin said; it’s kind of a pilot space, a first-of-its-kind for the area, she said. She is looking for the community’s input, which, she said, so far, has been overwhelmingly positive.
