At age 2 ½, Sylvester Schiltz looked skeptical. But at nearly 90, he’s elated. He moved to Altamont in 1957 and was the village plumber, electrician, and all-around handyman for over three decades. He is celebrating his 90th birthday on Saturday, Aug. 24, at the Altamont Village Hall at 1:30 p.m. “This is an open invitation to anyone who knew Sylvester to come join us in celebrating his milestone and have a piece of cake,” writes his friend Jeff Gregory.
