Photos: Hilltown Triple Crown kicks off with the Fox Creek 5K

Last Saturday, the hilltown triple crown kicked off another 5K season with the Fox Creek 5K at the Berne Town Park in Berne.

And they’re off! One-hundred-and-twelve runners race down Route 443 led by an Albany County Sheriff’s patrol car in the first leg of the Hilltown Triple Crown on Saturday morning. Eventual winner Ross Wightman, left, leads Chris Miedema (274); Grace Skultety (295), the female winner; Noah Valvo (301); and Berne-Knox-Westerlo alumnus Xzavier Rich. Miedema finished second with a time of 16:38, Valvo fourth with a time of 18:26, and Rich finished seventh with a time of 19:29.

Running away: Ross Wightman, 22, from Chatham sprints to the finish line, winning the Fox Creek 5K in Berne on Saturday morning. Wightman crossed the finish line with a time of 16:21.

Young legs: Grace Skultety, 14, from Delmar runs down Route 443 in Berne in the first of the Hilltown Triple Crown races on Saturday morning. Skultety was the first female to cross the finish line with a time of 20:44. The next race in the triple crown is Aug. 18 at Voorheesville’s high school.
