On Saturday morning, the Fox Creek 5K was the first leg of the Hilltown Triple Crown road races at the Berne Town Park.

And they’re off! As Berne Supervisor Kevin Crosier shoots his shotgun to start the Fox Creek 5K race, runners cross the creek, following the Helderberg Trail. A total of 86 runners competed in the first leg of the Hilltown Triple Crown.

Making it look easy: Noah Valvo runs along Helderberg Trail Saturday morning far ahead of the pack in the Fox Creek 5K race in Berne. Valvo won with a time of 18:02, more than a minute ahead of the second runner. Erik Koenitzer.

Battle to the finish: Erin Murphy, right, and Dana Peterson race one another toward the Fox Creek 5K finish line when Murphy sprinted ahead to be the first woman to cross the line. She had a time of 22:24 and finished in 15th place; Peterson finished with a time of 22:27 in 16th place.
