Photos: Dinosaurs come to Altamont

This past weekend, July 22, Altamont had some unique visitors at the Altamont fairgrounds in the form of dinosaurs for the Dinosaurs Come to Life event.

Taking control of his dinosaur, Santino Rossi, 4, rides a mechanical T-Rex, lashing him with a noodle during the Dinosaurs Come to Life event last weekend at the Altamont fairgrounds.

Up close and personal: This family looks unperturbed as a boy reaches towards the mouth of a pretend Albertosaurus last weekend. Other popular dinosaurs were on hand for spectators to see in the cow barn at the Altamont fairgrounds. Some kids dug in a sand box for replicas of dinosaur fossils while others gazed at a dinosaur skeleton or listened to a dinosaur band.

Getting a taste: A worker from the Dinosaurs Come to Life carries a pretend baby Philosoraptor, letting a boy put his hand into the dinosaur’s mouth showing the baby didn’t have any teeth to “actually” bite. The hand holding the box is a fake while the worker’s real hand operates the puppet dinosaur. A dinosaur band plays tunes behind the boy.

Looking for bones: This little boy uses a brush in a sandbox to try and find dinosaurs fossils at the Dinosaurs come to life at the Altamont Fairgrounds.

Happy camper: This little boy has his mother take a picture in front of a T-Rex that was one of many dinosaurs being shown this past weekend in Altamont.
