To a standing ovation from students, Guilderland High School librarian Bernard Bott waves goodbye after he finished giving the keynote graduation speech. Bott said that he joined the school faculty the same year that the class of 2017 started at the high school. “We were freshmen together,” Bott said, noting that he and the students had grown a lot over the past four years.

Graduate speaker Sagar Kumar told his classmates to look around and savor this moment. “This moment in our lives,” he said, will only happen this once.” Kumar, a highest-honors student, will head to Muhlenberg College in Pennsylvania.
