The Enterprise — Michael Koff
Strong arm: This girl has plenty of support as she throws a ball toward two small wooden milk bottles in hopes of winning a prize on Friday evening at the Pucker Street Fair in Knox. The fair was started in 1979 by the Knox Volunteer Fire Company to raise funds to pay off its mortgage on property it purchased between the firehouse and the town hall. Early events included skydiving, a parade, craft booths, food, games including softball, and firematics — Peg Shultes broke her arm at the first Puckerstreet firematics in 1979. The Enterprise last reported on the old Puckerstreet Fair in 1990; funds were used to finish the basement room of the new firehouse “for the use and relaxation of the firemen.”
