Photos: Athletes Competed In States, Land In Top 20

Seven Guilderland athletes, and one from Voorheesville, competed on June 10 and 11 against some of New York’s top student athletes for the state competition at Cicero-North Syracuse High School. Guilderland’s 4 x 100-meter relay team finished in fifth in the state with a time of 49.32 seconds.

Ran strong: Voorheesville’s Mariem Sayahi, pictured back at sectionals, competed in the girls’ 2000-meter steeplechase. Sayahi finished in 20th with a time of 7:42.17.

Top 10: Guilderland’s Maeghan Hickey, pictured back at sectionals, competed in the girls’ Division 1, 100-meter hurdles. Hickey just missed out on the finals but finished seventh overall with a time of 15.46 seconds.

Proud competitor: Guilderland’s Avery Kerr, pictured from last week, competed in the girls’ Division 1 pentathlon. Kerr finished in sixth with a total of 2569 points.

Road runner: Guilderland’s Kate Scanlan, pictured from last week, competed in the girls’ division 1, 400-meter hurdles. Scanlan finished second in the state with a time of 1:05.88.
