Harold F. Greene and Rafael A. Nieves Sr., both of Guilderland, talk after the close of the ceremony to mark the naming of a local road after Nieves’s son, killed in action. Greene’s son, Major General Harold J. Greene, was killed in an insider attack by an Afghan soldier in Afghanistan in 2014. Greene, who grew up in Guilderland, is the highest-ranking officer killed in a combat zone since the Vietnam War.
