Photo: Ducklings rescued at Albany airport
— Photo from Albany International Airport
On Monday evening, nine ducklings, following their mother, were crossing an airport access road when they tumbled into a storm drain. An airport contractor saw this and called the county sheriff’s office; deputies on the scene then asked for help from the Albany International Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting Department who descended into the drain to rescue the ducklings, according to a release from the airport. One had struck off on its own through underground pipes and was rescued through a remote manhole cover. The mother, who had been watching, and her nine ducklings then headed to the nearby Ann Lee Pond.
